Awww... he's not going to prison, now what do I write about?

So our prez commuted Scooter's sentence, but left him with the fines.

The whole "Free Scooter" thing is moot now.

Nice while it lasted...

Will he have better digs than Paris Hilton?

Follow the link above -- Scooter is told to report for prison in 6-8 weeks, even though he's appealing his sentence.

So, it looks like Libby's going to get his time in prison. I should have posted a link to Wonkett's post where she crossed out Paris Hilton and her mom and wrote in Scooter Libby and Dick Cheney, describing the tear-filled screaming to be let out of jail... maybe when he's spent his first three days in stir.

Now, who's laughing at me for getting this blog?

Scooter has been convicted of 4 of the 5 counts, including obstructing the investigation, lying to the FBI and grand jury perjury. The maximum sentence is 25 years.
His lawyer is seeking a new trial, and barring that an appeal.

So he's not incarcerated yet... but it's not too late to buy this blog!

White House Leaky?

W.House does not dispute Bush leak allegation - Yahoo! News

So it goes... all the way to the top.

But this is kind of baffling. If you can claim no involvement, you should be able to deny an allegation like this.

There is an explanation. The article linked to above says that Libby was told by Cheney that Bush authorized it. Now I'm not trying to build a defense for the president, but perhaps the duplicitousness is on the part of the vice president, and Bush did no such authorization. Reasonable doubt, y'know. Hearsay. It'd never hold up to Law and Order standards.

Scooter's getting publicity in the funny pages

This week, two comic strips lampooned the Libby sitch.
Sunday's Candorville (12/4) by Darrin Bell (probably better known for Rudy Park) has a wonderful little debate between the Bush- and Clinton-era versions of Kay Bailey Hutchinson over the relative evils of perjury and obstruction of justice.

And earlier this week (sorry I didn't post earlier, I was out of town), Darby Conley's Get Fuzzy on Monday 11/28 celebrated Fight Apathy day, with Rob asking for the release of Schapelle Corby, and Bucky looking to Free Scooter!

I'd post it here, but United Media has some really scary warnings on their website. Before my eyes watered from the tiny print, there was something about torture of suspects and leaking my name to US magazine as Heidi Klum's supplier if I used any graphics without permission.

Indicted

I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby has been indicted for obstruction of justice, perjury, and just plain wrong.

This site is here to whine about politics, and a place to beg for relase of Scooter from jail if he's sent there.
